Resort: Zell am See is a characterful Alpine town perched on the shores of lake Zell in Austria's Salzburg Province. This world class ski resort offers great pistes as well as dozens of summer activities including sailing, waterskiing and kayaking plus its crystal clear lake is clean enough to drink. Ideally located only 70 minutes by car from Salzburg Airport and 2 hours 30 minutes from Munich Airport, Zell am See is extremely accessible. There are also direct trains into Zell am See from Salzburg. The town has a great apres-ski scene and offers an abundance of shops, restaurants and hotels, making it one of Austria's most popular destinations. Less than 8km away is the traditional village of Kaprun, which sits at the foot of the Kitzsteinhorn glacier and offers year-round skiing at altitudes up to 3,200m.

Winter: With 138km of pistes across the mountains of Schmittenhöhe, Kitzsteinhorn, and Maiskogel, Zell am See offers a wide range of blue, red and black pistes, ensuring great skiing for beginners and experienced skiers alike. The entire area has a total of 52 chair lifts, cable cars, drag lifts and gondolas. Regular night skiing and boarding is also offered in Zell am See and heli-skiing is available through a few companies from the Schmittenhöhebahn. And if you’re feeling more adventurous, you can always try your hand at ice climbing. Thanks to Zell am See’s valley location it is also extremely popular for cross-country skiing with 200km of trails for all skill levels which offer fantastic views.

Summer: Zell am See is one of the most scenic and well-loved ‘lakes and mountains’ resorts in Austria, located on the shores of lake Zell which is fantastic for swimming in the summer or for taking leisurely boating trips. The historic town of Kaprun with its famous glacier offers breathtaking views and wonderful hiking opportunities, not to mention summer skiing for skiers who can’t wait for the next ski season to get their fix! Both towns offer numerous other summer activities for all the family including great swimming pools, tennis, horse riding, paragliding, rafting, rock climbing, caving, sightseeing flights and cycling.
