Resort: Avoriaz is a classic ski in, ski out purpose built ski resort at 1800m in the heart of the Portes du Soleil, one of the most renowned ski areas in the world giving access to, Les Gets and Morzine. Ideally located, just one hour from Geneva, Avoriaz is set on a cliff above the attractive old town of Morzine. Truly car free, leave your car in the car park and take a horse drawn sleigh to your chalet. The wooden clad buildings are accessed by charming snowy paths and they can all be accessed by skis in this snow sure resort.
Winter: The Portes du Soleil is one of the largest ski areas in Europe straddling the French and Swiss borders with 650 km of pistes served by over 200 lifts. There are 13 resorts, some of which are linked and the main hub of the system and the highest resort within it is Avoriaz. New high-speed chair lifts and upgrading of existing lifts have given super fast access to the slopes with fabulous cruising skiing for intermediate skiers over a massive area. Avoriaz is famous for its lively nightlife during the winter season with a lot of bars and clubs to enjoy with your friends or family. It is also possible to go down to Morzine.
Summer: The Portes du Soleil is a charming base from which to explore the attractive villages in the area as well as the towns such as Evian on Lac Leman. Morzine is a proper town and is a pleasant place to visit at any time of the year. Les Gets has its lake, a golf course and organises many events for children in the summer.
