Resort: Cambrembo is a small hamlet located in the Brembo Ski region in the Val Brembana - the pride of the Italian Alps. This area offers a range of skiing for different abilities, across the villages of Foppolo, Carona and San Simone. Foppolo and Carona are less than 10 minutes away by car and are both connected by piste. The smaller San Simone is only five minutes’ drive away and there is even a bus that leaves from Cambrembo.
The municipalities of Foppolo, Carona and San Simone are all up and coming areas that have been developed to a high standard over the years and benefit from modern ski lifts and infrastructure.
Winter: The Brembo Ski region has been a popular skiing resort for foreigners since the 1930’s with infrastructure being built and improved over the years. Part of this has been the introduction of a modern ski-lift system in Foppolo and Carona. With this addition the region now has 40 ski lifts, taking eager skiers up to an altitude of 2,200m.
There are also a number of snow cannons that are used to ensure a long ski season, stretching well into spring. The region has over 50km of slopes for all abilities. Most of the runs are designed for intermediate skiers but there are also a range of slopes for both beginners and experts. Highlights for experienced skiers include the classic Montebello run and the daring descent from Monte Valgussera. Winter activities go beyond simple piste skiing with dedicated snowboarding, snowmobiling and off-piste ski areas. To complete the facilities there is also an ice rink and a recently constructed snow park.
Summer: The Italian Alps are home to some of the most picturesque landscapes in all of the Alps. Summer is a great time to explore the mountains on foot, thanks to the many established walks that cross the beautiful scenery. Or you could take to two wheels and cycle the routes to see as much as possible.
During the summer months, herds of cattle come to graze on the mountain pastures. This has happened for centuries so it is a real display of the area’s rich farming history. There are also several lakes nearby, encouraging lakeside picnics and excursions. Italy’s stunning Lake Como is also just 80km away if you want to explore further afield. Nearby Foppolo also offers wellness facilities plus a bouldering gym.
