Resort: Ortisei is one of the most popular resorts in the Dolomites sitting at 1,236m above sea level. Much of the surrounding area is UNESCO protected, with beautiful scenery. There are extensive activities to keep you busy in both summer and winter from tobogganing to outdoor swimming. Originally a mercantile town, Ortisei has a rich history, which you can enjoy by visiting some of the historical buildings and noted churches. The town itself fits perfectly into the landscape emphasising its natural growth, and lively atmosphere.
Winter: Ortisei is part of the massive Dolomiti Superski region which has a total of 1,220km of slopes split into different areas. The Val Gardena Alpes di Suisse pass gives access to a total of 83 lifts and 175km of slopes for a range of abilities. There are 78km of runs in Ortisei, primarily for beginner and intermediate skiers but there are a few black runs for experts. Skiing isn’t the only activity to get involved in during the winter. There are schools for ice-climbing; ice skating and toboggan runs can also be great fun, and are ideal for children.
Summer: Ortisei is a true dual season resort, with lots of summer activities. One adventure, for cyclists, is the Sella Ronda. For another all-day activity, you can spend the day at the 18-hole Golf Club Castelrotto which is just a half an hour drive away. The Mal Dolomit water centre in Ortisei is a highlight, offering a range of swimming opportunities with a several different pools. Included in the complex are three pools and even a big 65m water slide to rocket down! The Mal Dolomit has also got wellness facilities.
