Resort: La Tzoumaz, is just 25 minutes from Sion, and 1 hour 45 minutes from Geneva airport and is part of the huge Four Valleys (Verbier) ski area in the heart of the Valais Alps, in the French speaking part of Switzerland. It is perfect for a weekend visit and at 1500m it is snow sure. La Tzoumaz is just one ski lift from Verbier. A new télécabine whisks you up to over 2300m and then it is a gentle cruise down to the Savolyeres slopes above Verbier. There are a number of bars and restaurants, ski shops and all the usual facilities.
Winter: The Verbier ski area is the largest in Switzerland with over 410km of pistes on one lift pass. There a slopes for all abilities and some fabulous off-piste skiing.
Summer: There is plenty to do in the Rhone Valley with golf courses, outdoor swimming pools and natural spas, horse riding, mountain biking, and tennis. The pass is open in the summer so you can drive over to Verbier in 15 minutes.
