Resort: Villars sits on a sunny plateau at 1300m and is undoubtedly one of the best, and most easily accessible, dual season resorts in the Alps. Only 90 minutes drive from Geneva airport, and with excellent train connections, it is easy to visit for a long weekend. Strict building controls have retained its traditional charm and there are some beautiful unspoilt villages. There are few package tours or catered chalets, so Villars is up-market, a well-kept secret, a proper place, busy all year and suitable for a second home or even retirement.
Winter: The main ski area is above Bretaye, a sunny snow bowl at 1800m. There has been a massive investment in recent years and 46 modern lifts serve 250 km of piste including a link to Les Diablerets and its glacier at 3,000m. There is a surprising amount of off-piste skiing, and resorts, such as Verbier and the Portes du Soleil are within 45 minutes drive. There are many charming mountain restaurants and Villars is an outstanding resort for children and non-skiers. There is a good choice of restaurants and there are late night venues and discos such as Charlie's, Café Central, and El Gringos. Villars has excellent facilities for non-skiers.
Summer: There is plenty to do. An 18 hole-golf course, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, horse riding, mountain biking, tennis, ice skating. Good walking, charming old villages and Montreux and Lake Geneva are only 20 minutes away.
Property: Most properties are authorised for sale to foreigners. Property prices are quite high as this is a well established resort and within easy reach of Geneva so it is also popular with Swiss buyers. We have a good choice of chalets and apartments and also some excellent value resale properties.
