Wengen, Switzerland
Resort - Wengen is accessible only by a cog railway built over a 100 years ago, and is therefore traffic free. It is perched above the Lauterbrunnen valley at an altitude of 1250m and has some of the most dramatic views in the Alps. This is a charming and rather old-fashioned resort, with many Victorian hotels and it has a calm, unhurried atmosphere. This has made it a firm favourite with well-heeled British visitors who return year after year.
Winter - The Jungfrau lift pass covers Wengen, Grindelwald, and Murren, and covers a total of 195 km of pistes including the Jungfrau glacier at over 3,400m but you need to be prepared to take the train to explore the full potential of the area. The reconstruction of the Mannlichen cable-car now gives a convenient and speedy alternative to the train.
Summer - Wengen and the surrounding area of the Lauterbrunnen valley and Interlaken are a pleasure to visit in summer. and the railways, buses, boats, and cable cars, add to the adventure of exploring the wonders the Bernese Oberland. An alternative dual season resort would be Villars.
Property - This is one of the few resorts in the Bernese Oberland where foreigners are permitted to buy property but it is not possible for foreigners to buy an independent chalet (only apartments). These are usually new build and they sell very quickly so to have any chance of buying one, you need to register with us. We also have properties in Grindlewald and Lauterbrunnen.
