"Hinterstoder is the perfect resort to come to with your family. The huge variety of slopes, sports and activities ensures that people of all ages and skiing abilities are fully entertained. The authenticty and incredible nature of this World Cup resort has a charm like no other." - Florence Rowson-Stevens
Hinterstoder is known to be a very historic, family-friendly and picturesque town nestled within the natural beauty of the Pyhrn-Priel region in Upper Austria. Due to its World Cup history, the resort has become very well-renowned and lively, yet still manages to keep its quaint charm and private feel.
The whole village is ski in, ski out, making it a skier's heaven. And it's not just the slopes that are so accessible, but the village itself too. Being just 90 minutes away from Salzbug airport, and less than an hour from Linz, the short travelling time is ideal. Whether you're travelling by train, bus or car, the journey is guaranteed to be hassle-free.
Over 40km of pistes to enjoy, Hinterstoder has a slope for everyone. Whether you're wanting an extreme challenge and thrill down the 3500m long Hannes Trinkl World Cup race course, or a gentle and scenic ski along some peaceful tree-lined greens and blues, you will find your perfect slope.
Home to Upper Austria's largest children's ski terrain, the Sunny Kids Park is the perfect place for children to learn to ski. Whilst the children are discovering their passion for the mountains, the rest of the family can be up in one of the 14 lifts, gazing at the 2000m high Schafkogel, exploring the mountains for themselves too.
Another great challenge is the Inferno piste; with a 70% gradient, this piste is for the thrill-seekers and the experts. For freestylers, the snow park by the Almlift is an Alpine paradise.
The exhilerating sports offered in Hinterstoder don't just happen in winter, there is also year-round paragliding and hang gliding. The list of summer sports goes on and on too!
The large terrain provides over 600km of hiking trails as well as 44km of cross country trails, all with outstanding views of the mountains. There are plenty of opportunities to observe the grand diversity of nature in the unspoilt, preserved scenery.
Biking, tabogganing, rafting, climbing and canyoning are other popular sports in the summer months. However, there are also many more relaxing and less active pastimes to pursue in the summer. The beautifully clear river Steyr is a fantastic place to either fish, or just simply admire the tranquility and nature of the surroundings. For more of a sporty swim, the nearby outdoor pool Freibad is a must!
