La Tania

Ski Chalets & Apartments for sale, France

Expert's Opinion

“We were in at the very beginning selling apartments here when the resort was built for the Winter Olympics of 1992. La Tania has become a great success as it is more attractive than many purpose built resorts and has easy access to the Trois Vallees , Ski in ski out convenience is also a big draw.” - Simon Malster

The Village

A family friendly resort in the Three Valleys, La Tania is one of the better looking purpose built resorts out there. It holds a slightly lower price tag than its classy neighbours Courchevel and Meribel, but offers bags of charm and an exceedingly convenient location for your money.

With wood clad buildings featuring ski-in ski-out access, this resort is well connected to the rest of the Trois Vallees ski area. Originally built for the 1992 Winter Olympics, La Tania is the lowest purpose built resort around and sits in a pretty, wooded setting. There are buses that run from the small resort to Courchevel and Meribel.

The attractive village is more exciting than you might expect, and there are a number of lively bars and cosy local restaurants. Courchevel le Praz and Meribel are between five and ten minutes drive away, so evenings of gourmet cuisine and cocktails are easy too.

The Skiing

As one of the more central resorts in the Three Valleys, La Tania has fantastic access to both the Courchevel and Meribel valleys. The resort sits at the bottom of a number of varied and wooded slopes, all of which enjoy the sun in the mornings. La Tania is an excellent resort to head to when visibility is poor due to the tree lined pistes.

Lifts in the area are as efficient as you expect from the Trois Vallees ski area, with runs down into Courchevel and Meribel from the top of the mountain. There is a range of skiing for every ability level in the resort, with excellent nursery slopes, wide rolling blue runs, steep reds and challenging black runs.

Beginners have a number of excellent ski school options, while experts can hire a guide to take them down the infamous Couloirs; only one of which is pisted. With over 600km of skiing in total, there is more than enough to keep you occupied over the years.

Properties

Although many of the older buildings in La Tania are apartment blocks, with the bulk of the resort built for the Winter Olympics in 1992, the most interesting new properties are new build chalets. The resort is cute, and within easy reach of both Meribel and Courchevel, while also boasting lower prices than the chalets and apartment in those more recognisable resorts.
