The Town

Built in 1971, Val Thorens is a relatively new resort in the French Alps, however it has already created an excellent reputation for itself. The purpose built resort sits at an altitude of 2,300m ensuring that magnificent panoramic views can be admired from any position in the resort.

As well as being known for its skiing superiority, Val Thorens also has a very lively and acclaimed atmosphere off the slopes. The après scene can be enjoyed from one of the many bars, clubs or restaurants on the Rue de Gebroulaz.

The town itself has plenty of luxury hotels, gourmet restaurants, relaxing spas and ski schools. The resort caters for all ages and skiing abilities and has an activity for everyone. From go karting to husky sledging, paragliding to ice skating, Val Thorens is full of entertainment.

The Skiing

Val Thorens has a well-deserved reputation for phenominal skiing and snowboarding and has over 600km of pistes to explore. The resort itself has 150km of ski area, but the outstanding connections and links in Les Trois Vallees mean that the world's largest ski area is just by your door. For a quieter ski the neighbouring resorts Les Menuires and St. Martin de Belleville are your go-to, or alternatively for more of a challenge head over to Courchevel in no time.

The ski season lasts from November up until May and snow can always be guaranteed. The ski lifts are constantly being improved and they are known globally to be some of the fastest and most effiecient.

The slopes are generally quite wide, and can be relatively busy due to the popularity of the resort. For intermediates the ski area is a playgound of fun with 43% of the slopes being blue runs. For a thrilling challenge, the infamous Cime de Caron has three black runs as well as one red.
