″Lake Pressegger See is an extremely unique resort offering some of the best lake swimming in the Alps, direct access into Italy for day trips, and 110km of snow-sure slopes!″
Lake Pressegger See Resort
Lake Pressegger See is a true Alpine retreat for those who value peace and unspoilt nature. Known for its family-friendly feel and calm atmosphere, the resort sits directly on the lake at 560m. Many properties have direct lake access with private beach areas. The Gailtal and Carnic Alps surround the area, giving wide, captivating mountain views in every direction.
Although the setting feels peaceful and removed, it is still well connected. The town of Hermagor is just a few minutes away by car and provides supermarkets, restaurants and a wider choice of cafes and bars. The Italian border is under 30 minutes away, making day trips into Italy highly accessible for those wanting to enjoy some Italian delicacies.

Winter at Lake Pressegger See is linked with Nassfeld Ski Resort, which is just 10 minutes away by car. Nassfeld is one of the largest ski areas in Carinthia, with 110km of pistes and a lift system that carries skiers from 600m up to around 2200m!
The ski area has more than 30 lifts and a wide mix of terrain spread across sunny south-facing slopes. Some of the most popular runs include calm cruises down the Carnia and Tressdorfer Alm descents, as well as more varied, wider slopes around the Gartnerkofel area. The Sonnenalpe sector is one of the main access points and connects into multiple blue and red runs, making it easy to cover a lot of ground in a single day and great for intermediates.
Snow making is present across almost all main pistes, with around 400 snow cannons covering key sections of the mountain; keeping conditions steady through the main season from early December into April. As well as skiing, snowboarding, sledging and tobogganing are also available.

Summer at Lake Pressegger See centres around one of the warmest swimming lakes in the Alps, with water temperatures reaching up to 28°C. The lake sits at an altitude of 560m in a sheltered area in Carinthia, creating perfect swimming conditions from late spring into early autumn. People can enjoy fishing, paddle boarding, kayaking, surfing and swimming.
Beyond the lake, the surrounding areas offer plenty of walking and hiking routes through the Gailtal Alps and nearby valleys. Trails range from tranquil lakeside walks to more elevated hikes with panoramic views across the Carnic Alps. Cycling is also popular in the area.
The nearby town of Hermagor, just 10 minutes away, hosts seasonal markets and village festivals with local food and music. Across the wider Carinthia region, summer months include open-air concerts, alpine pasture festivals and lake celebrations. The events are held for the locals, but enjoyed by tourists who wish to experience authentic and traditional Austrian celebrations.
