France
Ski resorts in France vary from your purpose built ski stations at high altitudes like Alpe d'Huez, to cute, traditional villages like St. Martin de Belleville and Les Carroz, and world-famous skiing hubs like Val d'Isère and Megève. France is surely the undisputed home of the mega-resort; the Portes du Soleil and Les 3 Vallees are quite unique in their extent and in the manner in which the pistes and lifts are so well integrated across a wide area. A large portion of the French resorts are purpose built, so if you are looking for a ski in, ski out apartment then France could well be your first port of call.Switzerland
Ski resorts in the Swiss Alps stretch all the way from Vaud and Valais at the Western border, though the Jungfrau Region and out to the ski resorts of Canton Graubünden on Austrian and Italian borders. Switzerland tops the charts for charming resorts with spectacular scenery and while France is is the home of the purpose built ski station, Switzerland is truly the home of the traditional mountain village come year-round holiday resort. Many of the Swiss resorts benefit from rail access, ideal for international travellers who don't wish to rent a car, and the Swiss Franc has proved rock solid in recent years making these resorts a good place to invest in a ski chalet or apartment.Austria
A land of cute valley villages, wooded mountains, pleasant intermediate skiing and lively après-ski, buying a ski chalet in Austria undeniably has its own unique flavour. Although a lot of the resorts are at a relatively low altitude, with impressive snow-making facilities, some of the most efficient lift systems in Europe and fair prices for food and drink, Austrian ski resorts have seen a massive resurgence in the last ten years or so and is a superb place to buy a second home - especially if you are looking to rent it out while you aren't there.Sign Up for Latest Updates
