Top 5 Family Friendly Ski Resorts

18 Mar, 2016 by Investors In Property
When it comes to choosing the perfect ski resort, whether it’s child friendly is often one of the biggest considerations. With that in mind, most resorts have facilities for children, teens and adults to ensure everyone can have a good time together.

If family friendly ski resorts, where you and your children can ski together from when they’re 5 to when they’re 25 are what you’re after, then there are a number of good ones across the Alps.

Avoriaz

As the highest resort in the Portes du Soleil, and one of the better designed purpose-built 1960s resorts, Avoriaz is popular for a number of reasons; the fact that it’s incredibly family friendly is just one. The resort is all ski-in / ski-out, and has a number of activities for children of all ages. Coolest of them is the ‘Lil’Stash’ snow park, which is a smaller version of Avoriaz’s professional park ‘The Stash’.

Wengen

Free lift passes for toddlers might not be the most use in the world, but it’s a good indication that this is a good resort for children. Wengen has excellent nursery slopes, a good ski school and enough to do in the town that your children will still want to go back to Wengen when they get old enough to want to go out in the evenings.

Lech

You can’t talk about child friendly ski resorts, and not mention Austria’s most famously family friendly resort. The Kinderland Oberlech looks after skiing and non-skiing children from age two, while kids eight and under get a free ski pass.

Flaine

This might not be the most classically pretty resort in the Alps, but it has excellent facilities for children including family lift pass options and a convenient, traffic-free centre. The resort has skiing for all ability levels, with some excellent off-piste and some good bars, restaurants and shops that will keep kids coming back once they’re older.

La Tania

The Three Valleys are hardly a slouch when it comes to child friendly skiing, but La Tania is one of the most family friendly out of a number of excellent options. It sits in the middle of Meribel and Courchevel, and it’s got excellent nursery slopes, a nursery and a kindergarten. Handily, it’s also close enough that you can take advantage of the facilities in both Meribel and Courchevel.
