Now that the ski season is just a hop, skip and a jump away, we’ve decided it’s high time we checked out our top ski resorts for the coming season. Whether you’re planning on buying in the next few months, or you’re just browsing around, we’ve been looking into the movers and shakers of the winter.
We picked our top Austrian, French and Swiss ski areas of the winter, all worth considering if you’re not sure which resort to choose.
The Arlberg Region
With a new lift coming this season that will finally link St Anton with Lech/Zurs, the Arlberg region is set to become one of the biggest in the world, and it will boast some of the best skiing and aprés ski too. The new ski lift means regular visitors to any of the world famous resorts on the ski pass can take advantage for everything the Arlberg has to offer, from family friendly activities to raucous table dancing.
Val d’Isere
Tignes and Val d’Isere are one of those French ski areas that sees a constant stream of development. The lifts and the ski pistes alike are constantly revamped to ensure the skiing experience is as smooth as possible. The new Solaise gondola will be ready for the coming season, having undergone the final stages of testing in the last few months. It’s one of the fastest lifts in the world, and the whole area at the top of the lift has been revamped alongside it.
The 4 Valleys
The obvious choice due to the constant infrastructural development and the huge range of properties across the resorts there, from glitzy Verbier to low key Les Collons. All the resorts in the 4 Valleys have access to one of the best ski areas in the world, with new lifts arriving all the time. This season will see a new gondola; the Mayens de l’Ours, which will replace the old four person gondola, reducing queues and improving skier experience.
